The Fate of Sentinel’s Fate

Some interesting stuff is going to be coming to EQ2 soon.

I just got an email about Battlegrounds coming soon. It should be interesting to see how this is going to work being that it is only about 3 weeks away. I have not read much about it or seen any blogs or forums really talking about it either. I know an expansion is coming out soon but Battlegrounds?!  Umm… wouldn’t you spend your Alternate Achievement(AA) a little different for PVP? Oh I am sure some bright devs put a lot of thought into these BG’s. I mean DAoC has been trying to balance 44 classes in the bgs for 8 or 9 years, how hard can it be to do it with 24?

The biggest anouncement  I am waiting for is if they increase the number of character slots you are allowed.

For me , I am going to take a wait and see approach. I will enjoy reading all the love/hate review info that will come out.  It doesn’t take gamers very long to voice thier opinions as it used to.  I still remember waitng for a magazine to give reviews.  Now I get them on Teh Entarwebs within days. ;-)

Dark Age of Camelot

I was a little bored and found myself reading the Vault Daoc boards and decided to check back with ole DAOC.

I had a few questions I wanted answered and the only way I was going to find them out was by giving it a try.

My first question was how many people were still playing it.  Something you first must remember is that even when Daoc was the big thing most servers capped at around 3000 people.  Well all of those people are now playing on one server.  (mostly). A few still play on Gaheris and Mordred.

The next question I had was if I do a /who Molvik  how many would I see. turns out there were 50 Albs running around. The other 2 realms had about the same.  Thidranki had between 25-50.
New frontiers had over 350 Albs.

I did a /who and there were around 1000 Albs.  The/ who’s were done on a Friday night at 11:15 PM cst.  (1/8/10)

It was like I never left.  (gasp!).

I downloaded the full client.  All the expansions are free now. So I got Catacombs, Darkness Rising and Labyrinth of the Minotaur for free. ;-)

They have a deal going on now that lets you come back for free for 10 days.

I was having so much fun that I subscribed and plan on playing for at least another month.  Of course now I have to move over a hundred chars from my old servers. Lol

Well off to clear the walls of those pesky Lurikeens and Kolbolds. Later I plan on making a Mauler. This is the only class I have never played.

Here are the links in case you find your self bored.

Account management for the 10 days free thingy.

Download page in case you need to reinstall.

Whats this? The Hibs just took Killaloe? *runs back to the battles*

Plenty of action still.

Morning Ramblings

So last night I finally got to play after waiting in que at the house for an open PC hehe…( I don’t mind the wait, I got to watch Inglourios Basterds. )

Anyway I logged into EQ2 first and grabbed my gift of the day and I found myself wishing EQ2 had a WoW patch 3.3. You know a cross realm dungeon que.

I think EQ2 could also have a box to check asking is it ok to mentor 1st available if nothing was available at your current level. Maybe I am weird but I really don’t mind PUGS. To borrow a line from Forest Gump “Its like a box of chocolates” etc…

Instead I did the quest where I get to pick between a xmas cloak, a xmas hat, or a life like reindeer for my house for the fourth time. Then I did some crafting.

After that I switched to WoW and played one of my Rogues on a PvP server. I am beginning to think I could level to 80 without leaving Stormwind. Is that crazy or what? I mean between bgs that earn xp and those instant dungeon ques. It boggles the mind.

Just some rambling as I drink my coffee and watch the kids play Free Realms. Free Realms looks fun. They are doing some stuff I have never seen. They are jumping on these green trampolines with bullseye painted on them. They also showed me fishing.

O well, coffee is gone and I guess I will shovel some more snow. *Groans* It still hasn’t heated up and I found myself shoveling the roof last night. I swear that snow plow blocks up my drive way one more time…*raises fist* hehe :-)

More games then you can shake a stick at

No I haven’t died. I have been busy leveling charcaters. An alts life is never over.

It is a crazy time right now if you are an altoholic and even if you aren’t it still is. Lots of games offering free time to come back and all of them having limited Xmas events going on keeps one busy.

I am playing WoW, EQ2, Lotro, and a few others.  My kids will be out for Xmas break so only a few hours left before the computers at my house become perma camped.

Keep your eyes open for one of the most elusive characters in the world, namely the Vlcan. *Starting to feel like Carmen Sandiego* (Hmm where’s me Red hat and cape?)

EQ2 Race Change Potion

So I see Sony finally posted about the complete collection over on EQ2 Players, but it seems to take a back seat to the Race change potion. For 2500 Station cash ($25) you can pick a new race.

EQ2 Good races: Dwarf, Froglok, Halfling, High Elf, Wood Elf, and Fae.

Can now become: Assassin, Brigand, Bruiser, Coercer, Defiler, Inquisitor, Necromancer, or Shadowknight.

and

EQ2 Evil races: Arasai, Dark Elf, Iksar, Ogre, Ratonga, Sarnak, and Troll.

Can become: Conjuror, Illusionist, Monk, Mystic, Paladin, Ranger, Templar, or Swashbuckler.

So I guess if you wanted that unique look for a class it just became a little easier. You could do it before but it involved doing the Betrayal quest.

Best bet?  Wait for another Double Station Cash Weekend! ;-) That way you can do two for the price of one. I know it worked last time because the kids dragged dear ole Dad to get it for Free Realms and that was only about a month ago.

See you in Norrath soon

Gaming update

Well I have been busy with a  plethora of games lately. I played Age of Conan for the free month and enjoyed the game very much.  I was surprised that the game ran so well on my aging PC.  I made 4 chars my highest only reaching level 29 an Assassin. I also played a Ranger, Guardian, and a Tempest of Set. I can see myself coming back to it around the time the next expansion comes out.

I also played City of Heroes and Villains for the free double xp long weekend. About 5 free days. Grouping was almost non stop. I was surprised  at how easy it was to log in and get in a group. I guess a lot of people were trying out Issue 16. It was an awesome  time.

In Lotro I have been enjoying the free time being offered and the xp bonus. I have been playing my little hobbit Hunter. Is it weird he is almost level 22 and the only time I play him is when its a free weekend? I wonder if I can get him to level 50 on just welcome back weekends? hehe… I am tempted by the upgrade to Mines of Moria for $9.99. I think it comes with a free month of play time. Then I could log in my 50 and work on getting him to the new cap of lv 60. Also if I sign up for three months at $9.99/ month I would get the free expansion coming out in Dec. Siege of Mirkwood where the cap is being upped to lv 65.

In EQ2 I am pondering a return. I am still not sure when the complete collection is coming out. It could be today or at the end of the month.  SOE where is the advertising for this? Is your game not running well atm?

The kids seem bored with with Wizard 101 atm and have been playing Club Penguin nonstop. They bought membership cards and seem to be enjoying the Halloween events.

In fantasy football surprise surprise I am the man to beat going 5-1. The smack board is getting crazy. hehe.. .

Well off to go do some trick or treats in WoW, easy xp during the Hallow’s End event going on now.

Gaming goodness for October

Just a heads up. I am surprised not many posts on this.

Starting on Oct. 8th City of Heroes is having a Double XP Weekend and Account Reactivation.

Also if you have ever thought about trying EQ2 it sounds like they have a special coming out this month. Everquest II: The Complete Collection.

Everything for $19.99 plus 60 days of gameplay? Yes please! ;-)

Also lets not forget all the Halloween stuff going on in most games.  *Taps foot while waiting on kids to finish playing Wizard101 Halloween stuff*

It’s been awhile since I posted

With all the new games coming out I have been doing a lot of reading. Back in the day it didn’t take so long. There are so many forums and blogs about all the games now it takes a lot of time to keep up with all that is going on. Being a true altoholic  applies to games too. I like all the ones I try. Lol. I use to just read about DAOC. Now I read about WoW, AoC. Lotro, EQ2, Aion, City of Heroes, DAOC, Champions Online, DDO, etc… The thing is I can’t play all of them. So many good games fighting for your hard earned money and time today it makes my head spin.

My main game is WoW but after years of playing I do enjoy dabbling in other games from time to time. Its what keeps the game fresh for me, that and having more alts then anyone I know. Half of the adventure is sitting down at the chair and saying “Hmmm where shall I go tonight.”

(Note to self) post more often ;-)
